GLENBURNIE FACILITIES
Glenburnie is a superbly equipped and self-sufficient training establishment, housing ninety horses. We have two American style barns, each stabling 20 horses, and an additional 50 loose boxes.
We have a 60m x 40m all-weather outdoor arena for warming up on a daily basis. Our 2.5 furlong deep sand gallop is used for core fitness while we also have a 6.5 furlong all weather gallop for faster work.
We have four walkers on site. Starting stalls located on the gallop also form part of a horse's routine and are particularly useful to prepare two year olds for their first time to the track. All our stall certification is carried out at home.
In 2015, Ger added a Hurdy Gurdy, basically a large size walker which allows us to exercise more horses at a faster pace. We also use vibrating therapy floor which is integrated into a stable. It targets joints, ligaments and tendons and provides relief from muscle soreness.
Our hay is sourced from our neighbour over the hedge. Master farrier, Anthony Lynch, has worked on Ger’s horses from the very beginning while all dental work is carried out by Jason McKeown who is also one of our work riders. We use the expertise of two chiro practicioners and our general veterinary needs are looked after by Ratoath Veterinary Clinic.
Glenburnie is situated 10km outside Trim, Co Meath and 40km from Dublin. It is set on 60 acres of pastureland which includes large grazing areas for horses on a break and more contained paddocks for turnout during the season.
