Over the 25 plus years of his career, Ger has built up a skilled team with a wealth of experience. His motto ‘Keep it Simple’ means that we operate a smooth routine which the horses enjoy. The dedicated team on the ground ensure that each and every horse's needs are met while experienced work riders, including champion jockey Colin Keane, provide valuable feedback from the gallops.
From the outset Ger has sought to grow his string and, most importantly, the quality of that string. During the nationwide lockdown of 2020, Guineas weekend took place in a virtually empty Curragh one month later than usual. With an outstanding ride from Colin, Siskin landed the Tattersalls Irish 2,000 Guineas (Gr1) in the colours of the late Prince Khalid Abdullah. A first classic! Roll on just five weeks and the Camelot filly, Even So, went into the Juddmonte Irish Oaks (Gr1) somewhat under the radar. She was a two length winner of Ger and Colin's second classic in the same season.
Both stable stars retired to stud in Japan at the end of their three year old career. The 2020 season will be synonymous with both of them but buiding on that success is what its all about. Ger headed into the 2021 season with over 900 winners to his name. Fittingly, a decisive front-running ride by Colin at Roscommon on August 3oth brought Ger to a landmark 1,000th career winner as a trainer.
Onwards to the next milestone ....
