We've 2 going to North to Down Royal today

One of my favourite tracks to visit as it’s without question one of the best run tracks on the circuit. This is their main flat meeting of the year with the Ulster Derby the headline act, a 3yr old only handicap over 12f worth €100k. Sadly I’ve nothing for the race this year but am sending two runners up to bookend the card.

KAFU ran on ok race on debut at the the Curragh and showed me enough pace to suggest he could handle the drop in trip and the experience should stand to him for today’s race. This is a very fast 5f track and race course experience is essential to handle the spin down hill, around a bend and crossing a road. With all that in mind and having done this many times over the years I think that Kafu is the right one from here to try and win this and is by the right sire in No Nay Never. Sadly drawn 8 of 9 is a negative but I’ll leave that to Colin to sort out.

We have to wait until the last race before we run our second charge ELYSIAN PLAINS who comes in here off three placed efforts from three maidens since the end of April. He’s a grand gelding that has been a pleasant surprise on track and if he handles today’s quicker ground he should have a favourite's chance. I think it’s been more greenness than anything else up to now so hopefully he’s learned enough to progress here and break his maiden.

Due to the early start and being too busy here I won’t be able to travel today and Andrew(assistant) will take charge and will hopefully be returning with a winner, fingers crossed.
