We send three runners to post at Navan today.

Sadly we have come to the last meeting of the season at Navan, a track that I have loads of affection for as we have always had plenty of luck here. A few extra meetings were put on here this term but not nearly enough in my opinion as I still feel that it's very much underused as a flat track. It was good to see them get a couple of extra stakes races this year and I'm not alone in thinking a Derby Trial would be well placed being held at this venue in the future.

I've only got three declared for today's card as we are quickly running out of ammunition as the season draws to an end. We can't complain as we've had our best year to date which will only be bettered if we can get Colin across the line as champion jockey. IT'S ONLY A JOKE has been rushed to get to this point as we try to win another race and Colin and I disagree on where his future lies. I'm of the opinion that he will handle Dundalk whereas Colin is not convinced. I felt that he did too much too soon at Naas the last day and just didn't get home. If we can get him to go through the gears better today, hopefully he can see his race out better.

VISCOUNT WILSON holds a false place in the betting and if his 'paper price' is correct then this must be a bad race! He's not the fastest but probably isn't strong enough for this stiff mile yet. Ultimately he's a handicapper and I'd say we will put him away and geld him after today in the hope of winning a little race next spring.

ILL PICCOLO GRANDE is just not genuine! He has plenty of ability and the only reason he's still on the team is because he's a very good lead horse at home. I'm disgusted that I haven't fooled him into winning one this summer but basically he's got the better of me! We will persevere with him up at Dundalk but would you believe he's still rated higher on the all-weather and I can't run him at this level up there! How many times does the handicapper have to see him before seeing him for what he is, a thief!

Hi Ger

I am sorry to learn that Poetic Light, who I bred, was at the Goffs HIT sale yesterday. I very much hoped that you would be in charge of his three year old campain.
Would be grateful for any news of him. I have seen all of his races and thought he showed promise ? Thank you
