Racing is local today at Navan while we are busy at Tatts Book 1 yearling sale. Ground is officially soft so could prove to be a testing surface for the two year olds.

I’ve declared three to run on today’s card and introduce CHIRICAHUA to run in the 8f maiden. He’s a lovely colt by Camelot that is definitely more one for next year but is ready for a day away. I can only imagine that he will come into his own over 10f next year but I’m delighted that we can get this run into him to further his education before we put him away. I’m a big fan of the sire and have seen some lovely horses by him recently. This is a fine big horse who’s very honest and hopefully he can keep on progressing into a smart 3yr old.

I run two in the 5f sprint handicap and poor CHICAGO MAY has top weight of 9-12. I would have loved to claim 10lbs off her but she’s not straightforward and will probably benefit from Gary’s experience.
She heads to the sales later and it would be nice to add another bit of form to her page before that. She can be very keen but seems to save her best for the track.

That said I still think it will be near impossible for her to concede weight to others like MEDICINE JACK who are older and more streetwise. MJ won a Listed here on soft ground and on his day is a good horse. I think he comes into his own on soft ground and depending on what mood he’s in can be a smart performer. Again he’s entered in the upcoming sales and his next run or two will determine if we move him on or not.
