We only have the one runner up here tonight as we go into the final weekend of the turf season. All eyes will be on Churchill Downs as the Breeders Cup weekend kicks off over there this evening. Not exactly the same quality on show at Dundalk but there’s still an eight race card to get your teeth into.

FIRST RESPONSE is a fine big gelding that has needed all the time that we’ve given him as he went through another growth spurt in the middle of the season. I’m grateful to have been given the chance to win with him as he quite easily could have been culled at the HIT sales. I would imagine and hope that his best days are ahead of him as he’s such a big lad and I’m hoping that he takes to the surface tonight. If he does we should have a bit of fun with him before Xmas and then we can decide his long term future after that. You all know at this stage of my poor record with odds on shots so if you have any compassion at all I’d be very grateful if you all backed something else!
