We head to Navan with 3 runners

It’s a lovely weekend's racing for me as although we ran nothing last night at Leopardstown we visit Navan today and Naas tomorrow, three of my favorite tracks without doubt. I have only declared three on today’s card as that’s what suited my squad on ground described as Good to Firm with selective watering. We’ve had a few showers here since declaration time so it should be beautiful fast flat racing ground.

BAILLY returns quickly after a very disappointing return to the track last weekend at Cork. She probably was too fresh on the night but definitely looked out of her depth in that company and sadly on that evidence she needs to improve loads for us to eventually get her some Black Type. She is by Charm Spirit, of which I have three here by the same sizre, and all three have the same character traits, that they are fairly edgy and like to get on with the job. Sprinting takes practice and for that reason I will run this lady regularly in the hope that one day she rewards us with a nice pot. Hopefully, she comes forward from last week's race in order to give me confidence for the season ahead.

We stick to the 5f here (albeit 164yds shorter than Bailly’s race) with MY LAUREATE. No question that she has disappointed me to date but I believe I’ve finally found her ideal trip. Her pedigree is confusing in that she is related to a stakes performing sprinter in Ainippe and also a very good 8/10f sort called Insayshable. It would be nice to break her maiden finally as she has shown enough to have done so before now. In her defence, I would say that she is only now maturing into the finished article. Here’s hoping that today is her date to visit the winners enclosure.

PYTHION returns quickly after being outclassed last Sunday at Leopardstown. 10f was always going to be too short for him that day and I probably shouldn’t have ran him as I had this option coming up. As it turned out it may have done him good as he’s a big gross colt that could get on top of us if we aren't a bit harder on him. He’s been in great order at home all week and I’d be a lot more confident of him being competitive in this race than last weekend’s race, hopefully that proves to be the case.
