Preview of our runners at Naas today

Off to Naas with four declared to run on their mid Summer card but on less than conditions. My horses are well and I have a few that have had their first runs and are patiently waiting for the summer ground to return. Thankfully the few we are running are holding their own and flying the flag.

I run two in the two year old colts and geldings over 6f and introduce a Fast Company Colt here called DOCTOR GEOFF that we purchased off one of my own guys at the DBS breeze ups. He's a lovely colt that will want further but as you know I do love to start them short and his sire doesn't seem to mind soft ground. I would be hopeful of a nice run as long as he isn't taken off his feet too early.

ROCK IN PEACE hasn't grown as I'd have liked and I would think he's just a nursery type which he will qualify for after this run. Nurseries are what we call two year old handicaps and they should be starting in a few weeks.

TONY THE GENT is probably our star on show today and I'm running him because it's a nice prize and I'm not convinced that he won't handle the ground. TONY is a box walker and lives out in a field 24/7 with a buddy. Normally box walkers are light and struggle to hold condition but this lad does himself well and he's thriving outside. If he can handle the soft ground we will have plenty of options with him and I do believe that there is a big pot in him. This is his first run in handicap company but as its not a large field it is a nice one to start him in.

SCEALTANA only ran last Wednesday at Fairyhouse and it wasn't ideal having to make the running with him. Colin sent him on as he felt they were going to crawl which wouldn't suit a horse that wants a trip and this lad was vey green in front. I've put cheek pieces on him today to help him concentrate and the step up to 12f will suit him better. I would hope he can win a race of this nature and progress as he's a lovely big son of Azamour and I would imagine he could shape into a nice dual purpose type in time.

Very interesting and informative, I too have a box walker! Keep up the good work. Good luck to all the team today.
