There’s a very good seven race card up at Leopardstown tonight dominated by the 2yr olds with four juvenile races in all including two GR3 contests as the highlights, not to mention the Listed Vinny Roe Stks on the under card!

However we kick off at claimer level and I’ve put GOLD JASMINE straight in at this level for no other reason than if she was claimed at her price of 20k her connections are happy to move on. She ran better than it looks on debut at Bellewstown as she got caught behind one that ran rank and dragged our filly wide and literally took her out of the race. On a tight track like Bellewstown that’s enough to ruin whatever chance you had and Colin had to take his medicine. I think that she still learned enough to improve for the experience and we should see a sharper lady tonight and I’m hopeful of a positive run.

The second race is an 8f 2yr old maiden and I start PYTHON here for his first start. This is the only OLYMPIC GLORY that we have and he’s a lovely straightforward colt with plenty of quality but is probably more a three year old in waiting then a precocious 2yr old. That said he has done plenty at home and is ready for a day out and I’d be hopeful of a good run where he can hit the line strong and improve for the experience. He will definitely need every yard of tonight’s trip and I’m just worried that he isn’t run off his feet in the early stages of the race.

The Silver Flash Stks is the first of the two GR3 races and seven fillies go to post for this prestigious race. We’ve sold MORAVIA since her last start when winning her 7f maiden here easily. She has done well since and is ready to start again in what could be her last run here before shipping out to America for an ambitious program. As always these races are very competitive and of course the Ballydoyle filly could be anything after getting rave reviews when also winning her maiden here over course and distance a few weeks ago. Blacktype is so important for these fillies and that is why the competition for running placed in these races is so strong which all makes for an exciting race that should give plenty of pointers to the future.

The 2yr old colts are up next in the GR3 Tyros Stks where only five have declared to run and thankfully I’ve got INVASION DAY representing us. He’s a lovely straightforward colt by Footstepsinthesand that has been crying out for this step up in trip today. The fact that he’s won over 6f is credit to his honesty as he’s always shown that he’s wanted at least 7f to be at his best. Again we all could be running for placed money here as the Ballydoyle colt was very impressive at Killarney when beating Yonkers into a remote second. Again it should be a very informative race for the future and I’m just happy to have horses in both of the two pattern races and both should be very competitive tonight.

ZALZAR is a nonrunner in the Keywest Handicap.
