We run 2 on the final day of the 2019 Guineas Festival

MUSTAJEER produces a perfect run to wrap up the 2018 turf season at Naas, 4th November 2018

The final day of the 2019 Guineas festival and we only have the two declared to run on the card which officially opens the ‘New Curragh’. The ground is the same as the last two days in that we declared on Good To Firm.

KAFU showed plenty of pace in his last start at Naas and it was obvious we needed to drop back to 6f at least off that run. He was a very straightforward two year old but has become very keen this year for no obvious reason and I think once he strengthens up he could mature into a decent sprinting type. I’d rather run him around a bend but we felt that once the weights were rising so dramatically in this race, we had to have a go and let him take his chance.

MUSTAJEER is one of our big guns for this year and while today’s trip is not perfect for him we are letting him run as only five are going to post and there’s good place prize money on offer. On ratings he’s obviously very wrong with Aidan’s two but we should be able to hold our own with the rest. For me, he needs 12f minimum and will get further and really needs the ground soft to run to his form at today’s trip. He handled fast ground at York last summer when running 4th in the Ebor handicap so as long as he can lie up at today’s pace he should be ok but realistically we are only running for place money. I do like this fella and I’m very hopeful of winning at Group level with him at some point.
