Galway Festival Preview - Day 3

Good morning and the caravan continues up and down each day to the Galway races. We had no luck in running but I was as happy as you can be when not winning with three of my five Topaz runners filling 3rd, 4th & 5th places. The real downer was that Colin picked up one day's suspension for an incident in the dip where he knocked Third Dimension down! This track is notoriously difficult to ride and in a competitive race like that you will always need to be very lucky to come through unscathed.

I only have two declared in today's big flat handicap. Sacrificial looked an ideal candidate for yesterday's race but I took the view that if he was good enough to 'win' the Topaz then he must have a great chance against his own age group today. He ran an absolute blinder in the Brittania at Royal Ascot and the blinkers seemed to find that little bit extra that we needed. As you know I've always held him in high regard and I do believe he's a stakes horse for the future. He's such a big horse that weight won't be an issue with him but that's not to say he won't be vulnerable to one that's been prepared solely for today's race! We are drawn in the middle which should allow Colin go forward, now all we need is some luck in running.

Chenega Bay is not a definite runner but I will update later on once I've made a decision later this morning.

Ps: I hope some of you availed of some of the 66/1 & 33/1 of Nodiac last night! I never have a bet but I was seriously tempted when I seen what price she was at the track. I thought she ran as expected and kept our good strike rate up with our two year old fillies, every filly we've ran, has won or been placed this season.
