We are back on the all weather tonight which will be the norm from here on in as we enter the winter months. A track that has been very lucky for this yard over the years and one that I’ve played a big part in promoting since its inception but I am filled with worry when I run on it now as it’s overdue a resurfacing and until it has one I can’t relax and have confidence with the horses that I run here.

I’ve declared four to run tonight and FEMME ARGENT has her debut in the fillies maiden in the first race over 7f. She is basically just ready to start and tonight’s race should bring her on a good bit and leave her better for the experience. Drawn 12 of 14 isn’t ideal but I’m not as hung up about the draw around here as others are. She’s a light framed individual that has needed all summer to mature and while ready to start I would still see her as more a next year project but I would like to get two runs into her now before I back off her.

TALLIEN is a nice son of Casemento whom I started over 5f at Navan at the start of the season. That was very optimistic of me but he has always been a precocious type and has definitely benefited from a holiday since that run and is now ready to start back. These Foran sponsored races have been a huge edition for these less expensive horses and tonight’s race is another qualifier for the final in a few weeks time at Naas. Another high draw isn’t ideal but again, that’s not my main concern around here as I’m more worried that my horses don’t return home jarred up. I would expect a good solid run from this lad and he’s very similar to the previous winners that I’ve run in this in the past.

LADY NATHANIEL has been running consistently this summer to a very low level which has been disappointing to watch as we thought that she was better than that. I think that she falls between trips and is basically one that could be described as ‘tripless’ which is always a worrying trait to possess! We are persevering as we feel it’s important to have a win to her name before she goes to the paddocks although when they get this low in the ratings I would argue that it matters that much.

THE KID BOBBY B has only his second start of this term as he’s been given every chance to mature through the summer. He’s a colt by Nathaniel and I would hope that I can win with him again up here before the season is over. He never grew that much from two to three and as he’s always looked like wanting this trip we felt that the more time we gave him the better. Hopefully he can step up from his last run and be competitive in this tonight, it’s hard to gauge him on his homework but he’s ready to run again here.
