FIVE FOR TIPPERARY TODAY, 30TH AUGUST 2018

Goffs UK Lot 417 Gutaifan Colt

Photo: Lot 417, a colt by Gutaifan, is another new recruit bought at Goffs UK yesterday. We've declared five runners for Tipperary this evening.

We head south again today with five declared to run at Tipperary on a card that stars the GR3 Fairy Bridge Stks 7f and the Listed Abergwaun Stks over 5f.

The first race is another claimer for two year old maidens only over 7f and we have GOLD JASMINE here. She has done nothing wrong so far and we think that this is a good spot for her to break her maiden. I was hoping that the ground wouldn’t get too bad for her as she seems to handle a fast surface well, today’s official going is yielding.

I’ve declared two runners in the fillies maiden which only has eleven declared. GOLD MEMORY is having her third run and while she has run ok it does look like she will need to go down the nursery route after this. She holds an entry in the Tatts Ire sales race on champions weekend and a good run here could help her stay ahead of the ballot for that which would be a bonus.

OSMOSIS started off at Fairyhouse over 6f which was ambitious but when they ran it at a snails pace it was a waste of a run in the end. She will appreciate today’s trip and we’ve given her plenty of time between runs to help her mature. While I would expect a much improved performance she would still be vulnerable tonight to a sharper sort and we may need another run to be spot on. So hopefully if she doesn’t win tonight it won’t be too long before she wins her maiden.

BLUE ULURU goes in the Listed 5f Abergwauny Stks as we look for black type with her. This is a big ask for her but if she returns to her very best form then she just could run placed in such a competitive race. She loves fast ground so any rain wouldn’t help our cause but she will run regardless as there are few opportunities left this season for her. Hopefully after another winter's break she will be up to this company on a regular basis next summer.

TENNESSEE WILDCAT ran a blinder in the Red God the last day and he just didn’t get the last 100yards of that trip but will appreciate tonight’s trip of 9f better. He’s a grand sort that is in the grip of the handicapper as I’ve said before but his honesty doesn’t help him get dropped. It would be nice to see him win another this summer but won’t be surprised to see him find one or two better than him again tonight.
