Dundalk Preview - 27 March 2015

Ok, my winter holiday seems to be over and we start back racing this weekend beginning tonight at Dundalk with three runners. It's been nice just concentrating on my pre season and tidying up the place for the new season but all of that was in preparation for going racing.

We have three up at Dundalk tonight with Burn the Boats kicking his season off over 7f in the 7.35pm race. He's in great nick and training very well but as with all of mine I would expect him to improve for the run. I'm going to campaign him as much as poss over 8f this season and hopefully there is a nice pot in him. He has his injury issues and as he's so well just now I decided to kick on as he may not be when the turf dries up. I expect a competitive run but he may be vulnerable to one that has been winter racing.

I run two in the last race which is a 3yo only maiden. Both of mine are basically handicappers and should win a race or two over the summer.
Azzuri is an Azamour gelding very much like Azurite from last year. I would have liked to run him over 8f first as I was going to do on Sunday at the Curragh but as this race wasn't filling and will be on nicer ground, that's the reason for my change of plan. I do think he will want this trip but first time out may be a stretch.

Master Of Mayhem is a grand sort by Makfi and he's my first runner by this sire. He definitely wants a trip and wouldn't mind a bit of juice but mentally he will benefit from tonight's experience. He's one I can see being busy early in the season and could be one for the jumping guys later on. I would hope the surface tonight isn't too quick for him. Dont read anything into jockey selection here as I was only going to run the Makfi and had jocked Colin up and as Azzuri was an afterthought we put Gary on him but one isn't preferred to the other.

So the yard will slowly blow the cobwebs away but I do plan to run plenty early and often and as you know our season really stutters away until after Punchestown. We have our biggest team this year so hopefully we can continue to improve our stats!
