We send five runners to post at Leopardstown today including Insayshable in today's feature race.

INSAYSHABLE wins his maiden at Leopardstown for owner Homer Scott 6th April 2017

Picture: Insayshable winning at Leopardstown earlier this season.

Back to Leopardstown today with 5 declared to run in a predicted haze of sunshine. The ground is declared as good to firm and I would expect a carpet for today's card which includes three GR3 races.

CAMELBACK is a lovely strong Colt by Exchange Rate that is our first runner for a new American client. He's a very precocious sort that I'm fairly sure will want at least 7f sooner rather than later. He's been ready to start for a while now and one start over this 6f will be more beneficial than waiting at home until the 7f races start. Being a USA bred I imagine he will enjoy the fast underfoot conditions.Drawn 10 of 12 is not ideal around here over 6f but as it's his first start we will try and make sure he has a good experience.

The Derrinstown Stud Derby Trial is one of today's highlights and we are lucky enough to have INSAYSHABLE fit and good enough to take part. This is a lovely big Colt that won in nice style here last month and he has been training well since. He's a very straight forward sort with a great temperament for the job and while I'm asking him a big question here today, let's see if he's up to it. Only six go to post but with the three O 'Brien runners rated 110 plus, the rest of us will have to produce career bests to win. Hopefully he will cope with the fast ground conditions.

I run two in the 7f handicap and both are on fact finding missions. GYMKHANA won in his first start on heavy ground at Naas but wasn't the same horse in a listed race at Cork. Any I've trained by Equiano loved top of the ground and while it is a concern I'm letting him take his chance as there's no obvious race in the near future for him. My main aim is to try and get some blacktype with him so he would need to be competitive in this today to justify going down that route.

ILL PICCOLO GRANDE is a new recruit and another bought by David Sprat for his new racing club Gaelic Thoroughbreds. He's a fine big horse that we gelded on arrival and is gradually coming to hand. I felt that this was an ideal race to start him in and as he's got a light weight I've booked Conor Hoban to ride him. Here's hoping he's as successful as most of David's previous acquisitions.

WORLD WAR starts his season off in the last and he's badly needing to start as he's just going through the motions at home. He's another big strong Colt that probably is more interested in eating than working and we've got him as fit as is possible at home. He will need every yard of the 12f and hopefully he shows some of his early form , If he produces that type of form then the step up in trip will bring out the improvement needed for him to win a Leopardstown maiden.
