Two juvenile runners today at HQ today.

Not so busy a day at HQ today as I've only declared the two to run in both juvenile races on the card. The ground was only yielding yesterday and I would imagine with no rain over night that the good may come back into it.

VELVETEEN is a grand little filly that has been ready to run back for quite a while but we have been waiting on some nice ground. I thought she ran with plenty of promise on her first start at Naas and I've no doubt that she has come on for that run. The trouble is that as I've waited that bit longer to run back I could have lost the slight advantage I would normally have and now she could be vulnerable to some nice late maturing sorts that always seem to arrive at this time of the year.

ROCK IN PEACE is my first throw at the nursery (2yr old handicaps) races this season and we are giving Caroline Murtagh her first spin for the yard. Caroline is a daughter of Johnny who rode plenty of winners for me over the years and she has been riding out here over the last two weeks to gain more experience and this is a nice way to end her 'work experience'. This is a small little Colt that probably wants a bit further but is very honest and I'm sure he will give Caroline a good spin. We will try and keep out of trouble and have a good clean run at it and her 7lbs claim off him will definitely help his cause.
