Bellewstown Preview - 4th July 2014

Woke up to a grey, wet and bleak morning here in Co. Meath. I don't know the forecast but I can only imagine the conditions at Bellewstown will change through the day if this persists.
We have declared three to run at another local track to us.
The first race kicks off at 5:20 and we run Bad News Bear here who ran second last time at Limerick and a reproduction of that run could be good enough. His owner has had a good week with two winners in the last two days so no pressure on this lad then!
Adroit has done nothing wrong on her two starts but she meets hardened c/d horses in tonight's race and I'm a bit worried if she's ready for this challenge. I thought her mark of 80 was a fair one for starters.
Snowmane did well last time over 11f which is the bare minimum for him as I think the further he goes the better he will be. A more galloping track would also benefit him better and I felt that the ground at Down Royal was as fast as he wants it. He has to take on older horses tonight but as he's an improving sort I would hope they'd be more worried about him than he would be of them.
I will be keeping an eye on the ground and as always once Shane has walked the track we will decide whether or not we run our horses. We do this at every meeting and it's a vital part of our routine.
Bellewstown is a quirky little track that you either handle or you don't. It has a real carnival atmosphere with all the fun rides very close to the track. Temporary stabling etc makes it all something new for the horses and you will find those with form here tend to run well. They normally get a great crowd and I hope for their sake that the weather holds up as this is one of the tracks that try hard to put on a good show.
