We saddle five runners at local track Bellewstown today.

THUNDER CRASH gets his head in front at Fairyhouse 16th June 2017

Picture: Thunder Crash after his victory at Fairyhouse earlier during the summer.

We are racing locally this evening at Bellewstown with five declared to run on the card. It has always been a lucky venue for us so when the program suits mine I always let them run here, especially when the ground is nice.

Three of mine are two year olds and POETIC LIGHT has his first start since being gelded and he should have a good chance in the mile auction maiden. He is working consistently and I would like to think a race of this nature is within his grasp but he probably still needs to improve to win.

I also run MOJAMBO in this race, having her third start it should qualify her for nurseries after this run. She is a very straightforward filly that has a good temperament but just seems to need a trip. Hopefully she shows enough to suggest that she can win win her Nursery otherwise we may put her away until next season at three.

The 5f 2yr old maiden is a trappy affair and experience is your best asset in a race like this. DALIYAH has been very forward going in her races so far and has just struggled to see them out. We took the view that with her style of racing and her willing attitude that this track could just play to her strengths. My only concern is that I never regarded her as a 5f type and so would be vulnerable to a real natural speedy sort.

The 12f handicap is where we send HARBOUR BEACON to post and he should have the class for such an event but he needs to help us out a bit more. I probably made a mistake going straight for the blinkers the last day as he raced far too freely in them and just didn't get home. He's a fairly light framed individual and is one that you'd expect to be stronger next year but if we could win another at three then I'd imagine that he would end up in the HIT sales in the autumn.

THUNDER CRASH is also in this race as we've been waiting for good ground for him. He has been thriving physically all summer after being a very slow bloomer and a return to his winning form should be good enough to be involved here.Neither of mine are ones that I'd trust 100% and both need to be at their best and be men enough to handle this track to win win today. Robbie Downey takes this spare as Gary chose to ride one that he has already won on before. It's an open race and literally anything could win it, hopefully it's one of mine!
