Lustrous Light heads to Royal Ascot and 4 runners at Limerick tonight.

LUSTROUS LIGHT brings up a double on the card for Ger and Colin 28 May 2016

We are racing at both meetings today with LUSTROUS LIGHT declared to run at Royal Ascot in the GR2 King Edward VII Stks. This is a big ask for a colt having only his third start but connections were very keen to run and I will be delighted if they're proved right. I like this colt a lot and he's going the right way but his form has been on good fast ground and as he's a nice mover I would worry about the soft going today. The step up in trip will suit and as he only does enough I'm just in the dark about how much progression there is in him but being by Galileo is a huge vote of confidence. I'm just hoping he can run well and learn about racing and Andrew said that he's took to it very well so far and being a real pro so it's fingers crossed!

Now to the day job! We have declared four down at Limerick and we start off in the lowest of grades with ALDO RAINE in the claimer. I thought he ran well enough at Navan over the minimum trip to suggest that he would have his day over this sort of trip in his own grade. I'm a believer in claimers as they can be a good way to move on horses or indeed claim one if you so wish to do so. I personally would much rather have more claimers than all the 0-65 races we have as it could just bring new owners into the game quicker. I'm also of the believe that if you run one in a claimer then be prepared to lose it and if you do, DONT cry about it. Im claiming 10lbs off him with Evan to give him every chance in the hope he can win this and if he's claimed I wish the new owners all the very best with him.

TONY THE GENT also makes a quick return in the rated race as I think he has a good chance of winning it. He was still a bit green at Navan and the drop back in trip shouldn't hinder him. This race should leave him spot on for handicaps from today on and I would hope he could pay his way as he's on the team for the long haul.

I'm quietly introducing the few fillies that we bought this year and tonight is the turn of NOVEMBER TALE. While they are showing enough at home they are seeming to need their first runs more than I'd expect so I'm still in the dark with a few of them. This girl works well and is very honest so I will be very interested to see how she runs here.

KUBALI is another that I'm about to drop into claimers unless he starts to show something more than we've seen of late. The mile will be as short as he'd like but I'd still like to see him finish his race out better otherwise I'm afraid he's not long for this team! Let's see can Gary get a tune out him here tonight.

Good luck at both meetings
